Think of residue or excretion as paramount to systemic health. For as a gold filter demands a coarse grind and a paper filter a fine one, and as Keaton's Batman discovered that it was not just hairspray that contorted the faces of Joker's victims into masques of clown death but, rather, hairspray and deodorant/lipstick/talcum powder - in this selfsame way, objects have a certain intensity all their own. This is how taste develops and how beauty comes to be appreciated.

You like a little grit in your coffee? You like crema? How about red flecks (also called 'tiger striping') in your coffee denoting a mastery of extraction? There will always be standards but the art is about finding something that works for you. Things that make your heart sing or make you smile all day.
